Thomas Morgan

Thomas-Bio

I grew up in Lexington running local events like the Bluegrass 10,000 at 11 years old but didn’t see too much success in running until my senior year of High School. Building on that success each year at the University of Kentucky and receiving a Bachelors degree in Finance and a MBA, I decided my dreams had not been fulfilled as a runner. I joined the ZAP Fitness Elite running team in 2005 and spent 5 years in the mountains of North Carolina chasing the Olympic dream. While I never became an Olympian, I finished 10th in the 2008 Olympic Trials and after a couple years of sub-par performances I decided to return home to Lexington as the assistant coach at the University of Kentucky track and cross country program in 2010.

I coached distance runners in the competitive SEC conference for 2 years when our head coach of nearly 30 years announced his retirement. I have been on the John’s Run/Walk Staff since July 2012 as the manager of the new Palomar location and now enjoy helping others reach their personal and competitive running goals.
