This distance is a perfect step for runners that are considering a marathon journey, but are still trying to get their running legs developed to handle the training. It is also a great race to take on if you are an experienced runner, but need to back down on total running volume and establish run mechanics and running speed.

The history and stories associated with the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii also add to the appeal for many triathletes. As Kentucky based coaches, we are fortunate to have an Ironman race right in our backyard with the Ironman Louisville event.
