Nikki,
I'm sorry to hear about your hip, I was really hoping you'd get it straightened out before the race. I know how distracting that particular pain is, but it sounds like you ran a good race considering it hurt before you even started. While you may not have met your original goal, you finished under 4 hours despite your pain; that's an accomplishment I'd love to have. I'll see you guys at Chevy Chase.

Nikki,
I cried while reading this. I am so proud of you and admire you even more (which is saying a lot becasue I already thought you were pretty amazing)! I'm not going to say that I know how you feel, because I don't. But, I know do what it's like to have a race that just doesn't go your way. I have to say that reading about the way you're looking at it really makes me change my outlook. The disappointment will subside (which I'm sure you know) and what remains is the memories of the things you mentioned--the time with friends, reaching new heights, and everything else along the road to the 26.2. You appear to be doing a heck of a lot better than I would be at this point. Nikki, your grace and maturity are such an inspiration. Keep it up, girl. It may not be in the form you'd wish for, but you are reaping the benefits of your hard work. I'm proud of you.
